Description of Organization
Bodhi Path Buddhist Center of Santa Barbara provides authentic instructions in Buddhist meditation and philosophy and offers guidance for practicing Buddhism that is suited to the needs and conditions of modern-day dharma practitioners. They offer a wide range of services including meditation and teaching sessions offered twice weekly, a weekly book club focused on studying and discussing contemporary and classical Buddhist texts and books and weekend programs/retreats on specific Buddhist topics that are based on a 5-year curriculum series designed to offer western lay practitioners a comprehensive foundation for spiritual development. The 5-year curriculum program includes the study of key Buddhist texts (e.g., The Jewel Ornament of Liberation, The Path to Awakening, The Gateway to Knowledge series) and instruction on Tonglen, Mind Training, The Heart Sutra and key Buddhist practices such as Chenrezig, Green Tara, 35 Buddhas, Vajrasattva and Mahayana Ngondro as well as courses on working with emotions, precious human life and various meditative practices.

In 2026, a grant of $3,300 was awarded to support their center’s meditation and mindfulness enrollment associated with their 5-year curriculum study. and to offer scholarships to their attendees who may otherwise be financially challenged.
