Description of Organization
This collaboration grant among Brown University, Prison Mindfulness Institute and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education Inc. supported “Training the Leaders of the Future through Community-Engagement Internships,” which provided undergraduate students in Contemplative Studies with community engagement internship opportunities at organizations bringing contemplative practices to bear on real-world issues, and training these students as the next generation of contemplative leaders.
This grant will help provide undergraduate students in Contemplative Studies with community engagement internship opportunities at organizations bringing contemplative practices to bear on real-world issues:
- Train these students as the next generation of contemplative leaders
- Serve the needs of Prison Mindfulness Institute and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education by providing committed interns to assist in the development of innovative programs and in the assessment of the efficacy of those programs
- Implement an engaged service component within the Brown Integrative Contemplative Pedagogy model, which serves as a template for other contemplative education programs in higher education.
