Description of Organization

CMC’s mission is to make the transformative teachings of Buddhism accessible to all by cultivating spaces where mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom can flourish. Rooted in the Buddha’s path, our vision is to nurture a global refuge where diverse voices and communities come together to practice, learn, and grow in belonging. We aspire to hear, engage, and deepen the Dharma in three interconnected ways:

Hearing the Dharma: Our weekly Sunday offerings, primarily online, invite a global community to hear the dharma together. Once a month, Sundays are hybrid, connecting local New Yorkers in person with global participants. Guest teachers of diverse identities and traditions enrich these gatherings.

Engaging the Dharma: Our new monthly in-person “Waking Up Together” Insight Dialogue gatherings allow participants to embody relational meditation, exploring Buddhist teachings in dialogue. This deepens experiential learning and builds local sangha.

Deepening the Dharma: Our day-long and urban retreats create immersive spaces for practice, reflection, and integration—bringing retreat experiences into accessible city settings.

Grant(s) Awarded

In 2026, a grant of $6,300 was awarded to sustain diverse guest teachers, expand hybrid offerings, and deepen accessible retreats, ensuring the dharma thrives in today’s world. CMC is a vital dharma community offering donation-based programs that make Buddhist teachings accessible locally and globally. Through weekly hybrid sessions, monthly Insight Dialogue gatherings, and urban retreats, CMC cultivates spaces of belonging and practice for people of all identities.
