Description of Organization
The mission of Dragon Lake Zen is to engage a synthesis of the Soto Zen lineage practice and ceremonies together with current human adult developmental models, cutting edge ethical philosophy and practice, embodiment, aesthetic, emotional and interpersonal practice to train awakened and competent individuals and communities that thrive and meet the challenges of our current world. We hope to nurture a thriving community where the wisdom of Zen tradition and the courage of innovation meet, guiding us toward a life of joy, clarity, and compassion that embraces all beings. Through our diverse offerings, we aim to practice and transmit the Soto Zen teachings of the White Plum lineage, cultivating a path that welcomes differences, clarifies values, and harmonizes with the flow of life. Through practice, service, and collaboration, we aspire to support one another in realizing wisdom, compassion, and a purposeful way of living together. We are creating both in-person and online communities that are supporting people to anchor themselves in the wisdom and compassion of the tradition to meet the complexity and challenge of our current global moment.
Grant(s) Awarded
In 2026, a grant of $2,300 was awarded to support the development, advertising and delivery of a 33 week online course titled: “Intimate Intelligence – The Wisdom of Making our Hearts Tender.” The course will specifically train positive mind states using a synthesis of Zen Buddhist practice, positive psychology, and somatic practice. Additionally, they will examine and face that which blocks our access to positive states, the role of recognizing emptiness, and interdependence on our mind states.
