Impact Theatre Inc. was founded in 1990 as a collective of artists with the goal of provoking community dialogue and social change through innovating. Impact Theatre seeks to inspire people to think differently about the social issues that define our society through an imaginative theater arts repertory of cabaret, vaudeville, and modern dance.
Grant(s) Awarded
In 2026, a grant of $4,300 was awarded to Activate Vulnerable Young LGBTQ+ Adults: Mindfulness and Embodiment for Unwinding Blocks Inhibiting Wellbeing. This six-session workshop is devoted to calming the mind by understanding and deepening a meditation practice while activating the body by exploring the psychophysical aspects of the body through archetypes and energy control. This program aims to support and enrich LGBTQ+ young people with skills and resources to face the unprecedented challenges of today.
In 2022, a grant in the amount of $6,000 was awarded to support the Lucid Body Process, which prioritizes the practice of investigating with respect and without judgment the given circumstances of one’s own body. Through combining Buddhist wisdom, secular mindfulness and Buddhist- inspired somatic awareness, participants, 18-25, will obtain enhanced skills in maintaining attention, emotional regulation, creative expression, conflict sensitivity, and abilities to respond skillfully in challenging situations. An initial ten-week training will guide these participants towards creating and realizing a final project that applies the skills and knowledge acquired through this course to their own networks and/or cause(s).
