Grant(s) Awarded
In 2022, a grant in the amount of $5,000 was awarded to implement a two-part training for Long Beach Meditation’s teachers and Board members to participate in the online classes, (1) Embodying Cultural Humility: Diversity, Belonging, Equity and Inclusion Leadership in Community, and (2) Healthy Boundaries for Buddhist Leaders. The online courses will culminate with an in-person retreat at Yokoji Zen Mountain Center to discuss tangible ways in which LBM can put these lessons into action.
In 2018, a grant in the amount of $5,000 was awarded to support the recruitment of a Guiding Teacher. The retirement of their Founding Teacher, Dr. Victor Byrd, sparked a crucial turning point where an experienced, determined and charismatic leader with extensive knowledge of the Dharma was determined to be deeply helpful to lead Long Beach Meditation in its next chapter of growth.
