Description of Organization
The Mayu Meditation Cooperative is a community-owned, non-denominational, meditation center located in Denver, Colorado that welcomes people of all contemplative traditions, all spiritual beliefs, and all levels of experience in order to bring calmness and clarity into the everyday lives of ordinary people. Founded in October 2011, Mayu was the first nondenominational meditation center in the United States. Its business model offered a drop-in meditation center without affiliation to a spiritual lineage, religious teacher, or specific tradition.
In 2018, a grant in the amount of $10,000 was awarded to Mayu Meditation Cooperative for construction of a Meditation Garden. The meditation garden transforms bare space into a lush Japanese-inspired garden. The outdoor practice space provides a unique venue for quiet reflection and helps to bring calmness and clarity to those who visit the center.
