Description of Organization
My Place has been the only organization in Henderson County specifically providing residential services delivery to youths aged 18-21 who have dropped out of high school, aged out of foster care, areineligible for social services, may have become parents themselves, and/or are unaccompanied (in high school with no permanent residence or adult supervision), who need the support that will allow them to move their lives in a positive direction. My Place opened a youth cooperative featuring an accredited self-paced high school and management training in food services, performing arts and retail.
In 2011, a grant in the amount of $5,000 was awarded to hire a fundraising contractor and offset expenses related to a challenge fundraising campaign with the goal to raise $100,000.
In 2010, a grant in the amount of $2,500 was awarded to support My Place’s “Generation Y” programs which provide opportunities to grow through social involvement, non-violent communication courses, conflict resolution forums, leadership training, consciousness-raising entertainment and service training.
