Description of Organization
Nebraska Zen Center exists to offer authentic Soto Zen Buddhist practice in the heartland. We are a welcoming community dedicated to meditation, study, and the cultivation of compassion and wisdom in our lives and in our community. We are open to people of all backgrounds regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or capabilities. Our mission: To provide a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds to learn about Zen Buddhism, practice together, and work toward awakening—realizing their true nature.
Grant(s) Awarded
In 2026, a grant of $3,300 was awarded to support a unique short-term residency program for priests in training. The program provides a rare opportunity for new priests to gain experience in leading practice as a resident priest for four to six months, receiving guidance and coaching to give them the confidence to establish and lead their own sanghas, expanding the reach of the dharma in America.
