Description of Organization

The aim of the Artist and Buddhist Contemplatives Project is to

  1. explore the connections between art and contemplative Buddhist practice,
  2. provide diverse resources for artists with a strong Buddhist contemplative practice,
  3. create opportunities for these artists to gather and explore the topics together, and in this way build community among them, and
  4. To open an inquiry into the relationship between art and Buddhist Practice to anyone interested in the topic, providing a source of inspiration and learning for artists today, those to come and the public.

Grant(s) Awarded

In 2015, a grant in the amount of $2,500 was awarded to support Artist and Buddhist Contemplatives Project with a gathering on October 19-­‐21, 2015, Meredith Monk, considered one of the most significant creative forces in the performing arts of the past fifty years and a MacArthur “genius” grant winner, offered to present.
