Northern California Shambhala
Description of Organization
Northern California Shambhala is part of Shambhala International, a community of meditation centers founded in 1973 by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, artist, author, and poet. The Shambhala tradition is led by Trungpa Rinpoche’s son, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Shambhala offers an extensive structured path of training in authentic meditation practices and teachings for people who are interested in pursuing The Way of Shambhala. As part of the international Shambhala mandala, the Northern California Shambhala community seeks to enhance the lives of all beings and to decrease suffering in the world. Northern California Shambhala is an interdependent regional community made up of members and friends of Shambhala meditation centers and their surrounding communities.
In 2014, Northern California Shambhala collaborated with Mind, Body, Awareness (MBA) Project, Inc for a $2,000 Collaboration Grant.
