Description of Organization

The Open Mind Foundation, doing business as Ashoka, the eDharma University incorporated the teachings of the Buddha into daily livin,g nourishes what the Dalai Lama calls “our inner dimension,” and encouraged the practice of peace and generosity. Ashoka courses invite reflection, contemplation and application in a variety of formats: reading, listening (audio), viewing (video), contemplation, and meditation.

Grant(s) Awarded

In 2006, an additional grant in the amount of $50,000 was awarded to support increased course availability.

In 2006, a grant in the amount of $46,000 was awarded to support the establishment of an online “meditation in action” curriculum, which was part of Ashoka’s web-based study center. The Meditation in Action curriculum included the following courses: 1) Socially Engaged Buddhism, 2) Being with Dying, 3) Cultivating Compassion, 4) A Buddhist Approach to Ecology.
