Description of Organization
The Tallahassee Chan Center’s mission is to share the wisdom and compassion of Chan Buddhism with all people, irrespective of their religious background. Its vision is to serve as a sanctuary for cultivating wisdom and compassion, and to contribute to creating a more peaceful and pure land on Earth through the practice of Chan.
Grant(s) Awarded
In 2026, a grant of $2,300 was awarded to support a transformative project that aims to illuminate Chinese Huayan Buddhism teachings and practices for Western audiences. Through careful translation and the creation of a comprehensive study curriculum based on Huayan’s foundation teaching on Ocean Seal Samadhi, this project will establish enduring resources that promise to serve both the academic community and sincere practitioners for generations to come—opening new pathways for the authentic transmission of these profound teachings to Western soil.
