Description of Organization
Sangha House NOLA exists to alleviate suffering and cultivate collective liberation through Buddhist wisdom, ancestral healing, and culturally grounded spiritual practice. We serve communities most impacted by systemic harm, displacement, grief, and spiritual disconnection—offering presence, nourishment, and refuge through boundless love in action. Founded by Venerable Clear Grace Dayananda, a Black queer Buddhist monk ordained in both Theravāda and Mahāyāna traditions, our temple and street-level outreach bring the Dharma into daily life. Our practice is rooted in lineage and lived experience, shaped by the joy, grief, and resilience of Black and diverse communities. We offer dharma talks, meditation, shelter accompaniment, spiritual retreats, and sacred listening—holding space where all can remember their wholeness and reclaim ancestral
wisdom.
Grant(s) Awarded
In 2026, a grant of $3,800 was awarded to support offering accessible retreats, spiritual refuge, and contemplative practice in the heart of the 7th Ward in New Orleans. Through engaged Buddhism and ancestral care, Sangha House NOLA meets the needs of the people with boundless love in action and liberation in practice, helping make the Dharma path a little wider for all who seek it.
