Description of Organization
In 2019, A Women in Buddhism grant in the amount of $2,500 was awarded in support of the Women’s 2019 Retreat specially designed for female veterans who have suffered from different forms of trauma such as PTSD, MST, anxiety, sexual harassment, and Close Combat Trauma. This retreat took place in The Black Hills of South Dakota where there were numerous activities set up for healing both physically and emotionally. The retreat included canvas painting, Buddhist meditation, equine therapy, and trust therapy. The goal was to have participants take back with them a feeling of increased self-worth and the beginning of a healing process. Female veterans found ways to deal with trauma. Along the way, a comradery of trust was formed within their group and support system.
