Description of Organization

MIT Prajnopaya, the Buddhist Community at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, provides students in higher education with tools for personal and social spiritual development using Buddhist methods. Weekly and special events are available for a variety of experience levels. Buddhist study is educated through multiple disciplines including psychology, neurology, interfaith dialogue, visual and performing arts, and media studies.

Grant(s) Awarded

In 2013, a grant in the amount of $7,500 was awarded to support these Programs:

  • Support of contemplative life among students at MIT (including lectures, workshop seminars, multimedia installations and research development to promote contemplative, active learning and interaction for the community at large
  • Ethics and Wellbeing: A multi-disciplinary conference to highlight interaction between disciplines such as psychology, medicine, physics, neuroscience, and Buddhism.
  • Training of American Buddhist Ministers

In 2012, a grant in amount of $10,000 was awarded to support these Programs:

  • Training of American Buddhist Ministers
  • Broadening of public outreach to link the University-based programs with the world at large and blend the entrepreneurial ethos of MIT with the zest of Buddhism
  • Support of contemplative life among students at MIT (including lectures, workshop seminars, multimedia installations and research development to promote contemplative, active learning and interaction for the community at large).
